VineyardsCurrently, in Apulia a large area around 107,000 hectares is dedicated to vineyards, with a strong predominance of black wine grapes (82 % ), especially Negro Amaro and Primitivo. In particular, in the area that extends to the north of Bari, among the most popular wine grapes we have: Uva di Troia, Bombino Bianco and Bombino Nero, Trebbiano Toscano, Sangiovese and Montepulciano. In the Valle d'Itria is mainly grow the Verdeca and Bianco d'Alessano, while in the southern part of Lecce and Taranto, we have the predominance of Negro Amaro and Primitivo. Our company is located in southern territory of Apulia, between the Adriatic Sea and the Ionian Sea, which takes the name of Salento peninsula. This area presents calcareous soils, particularly fertile and characteristic reddish-ochre due to the presence of iron. The climate is Mediterranean, with hot summer but dry and ventilated and with a good thermal excursion between day and night. This contributes to making the Salento an area of excellence for the viticulture. More precisely our vineyards are located between Line to Carosino and Monteparano, two municipalities in the province of Taranto. This territory is traditionally well-suited for the cultivation of the Primitivo, a native grape that someone assume to be a distant relative of the Californian Zifandel. From the vinification of the primitive grapes we obtain red wines of great structure, in particular the D. O. C. Primitivo di Manduria and the D. O. C. G. in its natural sweet variant. We grows grapevines on an approximately 10 hectares area, of which 5 hectares dedicated to the cultivation of the Primitivo reared with Guyot System and signed to D. O. C. The remaining land is dedicated to the cultivation of Malvasia Bianca and Syrah reared with Tendone System and Montepulciano reared with Guyot System. |
